Director of Nursing

Posted - 20 September 2019
Role: Director of Nursing
Location: Nottinghamshire
Organisation: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Closing Date: 14 October 2019

Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality
£competitive salary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) provides a range of mental health, intellectual disability and community physical health provision across low, medium and high secure services, including Rampton Hospital. Serving a diverse population of over a million people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, the Trust operates across a number of sites, has an annual turnover of more than £400m and employs over 9,000 members of staff.

We are currently seeking an inspirational and dynamic nurse leader to join our Board of Directors as Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality to lead a complex range of services during a time of change, opportunity and ambition for Trust. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering NHFT’s future successes through ensuring the organisation is underpinned by an engaged and high-quality workforce that contribute to performance, innovation and quality improvement.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation following the appointment of a new Chief Executive and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the vision and strategy of the organisation whilst also playing an active part in its implementation. Consequently, we are looking for an inclusive, compassionate and caring nurse leader with proven ability to provide supportive, inclusive and professional leadership to the nursing and AHP workforce and someone to be part of a progressive board who are visible across the Trust. You will also play an active role in the Nottinghamshire healthcare system.

NHFT is innovative, caring and ambitious and is committed to seeking new and more effective ways to promote recovery and quality of life through the services provided by itself and in collaboration with partners. Whilst the most recent CQC inspection indicates that the Trust continues to deliver against its mandated performance and quality standards and continues to provide high-quality care to patients, there is still much to do around improving safety, effectiveness, morale and staff engagement.  The Trust is therefore seeking an individual who can continue to drive this work forward.

As a Registered Nurse with significant senior experience, your track record should include leading, developing and implementing nursing strategy, creating a clear vision and professional leadership to nursing and AHPs. Our new Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality will be an inspirational, credible, influential and supportive leader with a focus on nurturing and developing a culture of teamwork, excellence and high-quality patient care.

This opportunity may suit someone already operating at executive director level but we recognise that this may also be an excellent opportunity for a high-performing deputy director. The post will require the candidate to be a senior registered mental health or general nurse and would suit someone who is used to dealing with complexity, scale and challenge.  Experience of working in mental health services would also be beneficial.
This role presents a great opportunity to work in partnership across boundaries and inspire teams to deliver the best possible care for all our patients. If you believe you have the skills to succeed in this role, we would welcome your application.

The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Monday, 14th October 2019.

For further information or to request the candidate briefing document, please contact Moira Johnston, Melanie West or Adam Kovács at the NHS Leadership Academy on 0113 322 5672.
